Strides Pharma Science Ltd on Monday said its arm has received approval from the US health regulator for its generic version of antidepressant Fluoxetine tablets.
The approval granted by the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) to wholly owned subsidiary Strides Pharma Global Pte. Ltd, Singapore, is for Fluoxetine tablets of strength 60 mg, Strides Pharma Science said in a regulatory filing.
The product is bioequivalent and therapeutically equivalent to the reference listed drug (RLD), Fluoxetine tablets, 60 mg, of TWi Pharmaceuticals, Inc, it added.
The Fluoxetine tablets will be manufactured at the company's facility in Puducherry, Strides said.
With the approval of the Fluoxetine Tabs 60 mg strength, the company is now positioned to offer a complete portfolio of Fluoxetine across capsules and tablets in 10 mg, 20 mg, and 60 mg strengths, it added.

Global Health, which operates hospitals under the Medanta brand, on Friday said its consolidated profit after tax increased 4 per cent year on year to Rs 106 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2024.
The company had reported a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 102 crore in the April-June quarter.
Revenue from operations rose to Rs 861 crore in the June quarter as compared to Rs 779 crore in the year-ago period, Global Health said in a regulatory filing.
Medanta Chairman & Managing Director Naresh Trehan said that on July 22, 2024, the company has received confirmation from the Mumbai Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) regarding a successful bid for a land parcel measuring 8,859.24 square meter at Mauje-Oshiwara, Jogeshwari, Mumbai.
"This pivotal step marks Medanta's entry into the dynamic Mumbai market, where we plan to establish a 500-plus-bedded super-speciality hospital," he added.

Private steel major Tata Steel recently launched a carbon bank, a virtual repository through which carbon dioxide will become a value-creating asset for future usage, a company statement said here on Wednesday.
CO2 is widely recognized as a harmful substance emitted due to the use of various fossil fuels in industry and transportation. The steel industry, in particular, often relies on coal and other fossil fuels in its production line, resulting in the release of large quantities of CO2.
The carbon bank is aimed at measuring and managing carbon dioxide savings generated from various sustainability projects. These savings not only contribute to environmental goals but also hold the potential for generating revenue that can be reinvested into further decarbonization efforts, it said.

The Delhi Police Friday filed an FIR under sections related to death by negligence after the collapse of the roof of Delhi airport's Terminal-1 killed one person and injured six others.
Officials said the Delhi Police has started the probe and will fix responsibility.
The city witnessed heavy rains from around 3 am. At the airport's busy Terminal 1, the rain destruction took a tragic turn. Around 5 am, the massive canopy covering the departure area gave way,  trapping several people. Besides the roof sheet, support beams collapsed, pinning down parked cars.
A taxi driver, identified as Ramesh Kumar, was rescued from a car on which an iron beam had fallen but was declared dead when he was taken to the Medanta Hospital facility near the terminal. The injured were admitted to the hospital.
The police has registered a case under section 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence) on the complaint of a sub-inspector post
